From New York our Walkers came (big Cream fan) and Chicago, too, as well as Belgrade (huge Pistols and Clash fans) and Seattle (a fan of Hendrix, o’course). As ever they were great company with plenty to say about the topic at hand. Undaunted by the rain, we discussed George Harrison, Pattie Boyd and Eric Clapton – a right good gossip we had there – as well as the topic of Clapton’s last great record. One walker suggested it was Five Live Yardbirds – made nearly 50 years ago! Harsh!
London Walks guide Andy tagged along with us and we started work on the next episode of the London Walks Podcast – the Musical London podcast will be available soon.
Back home now and almost dry, looking forward to finishing Morrissey’s outstanding Autobiography and then getting started on Mark Lewisohn’s gloriously ENORMOUS Beatles biog.
On Rock’n’Roll telly, we’re torn. The Nation’s Favourite Elvis song is on ITV. But we think we’re going for the Elvis Costello doco on BBC4.
On the wireless we’ll be kicking off our Saturday in the usual fashion with Sounds of the 60s on Radio 2. The website for the show is HERE.
